THE LOGO STORY....
Well folks here goes, the following story about Rev's logo is true well kinda, but a funny one.........
How should I begin......Hmmmmm picture this, it's a very cold February and it's the Galway International Rally and as usual it's pouring from the heavens, that horizontal rain we get here in the west. it's some time in the late eighty's and a new recruit has been dropped off at his location. The stage he has been dropped off on is near Crusheen in county Clare, the location in the middle of no where, the weather's cat. The only protection he has from the rain is a big over coat and a Tabard, and he has no food/grub, that's how raw he was.....
Well the day went well and apart from a few sheep(lucky or whot) and of course rally cars he had nobody to talk to, even the officials just waved as they passed in their nice warm cars...... Being the dedicated marshal he was he did not once desert his post and not even when the heavens opened, and as the cars zoomed by he was splashed with buckets of water, in short he was soaked from head to foot...
When the last stage was finally over they say it took twenty or more hot whiskeys to thaw this poor guy out, was he put off....never... The Pub near the stage they say was re-named after him in honour of his bravery and courage. It's now Called Christy's Bar, I kid you not....
Who am I talking about???? well it's none other than our own Chief Marshal Christy, that's who the logo is based on, and the car that's splashing him is Austin McHale in the BMW M3......
Christy has risen up through the ranks to Chief and is well known throughout Ireland and so is the story of his bravery.. Christy and his crew are in constant demand for rally's. He even has his own fan club and they travel to every rally in hope of catching a glimpse of this great man in action...
This is about all I can re-call about the events surrounding this tale, there is of course more to this epic tale, so if ya want to know more you'll have to drop in to us any Monday nite in the PitStop Bar in Eyre Square in Galway, and maybe just maybe the great man will put in a appearance..... and in the immortal words of Ripley Believe it or not????????????????????
